Announcement of new NCA board member

National Capital Authority (NCA) Chair, Mr Terry Weber, today announced the appointment of Mr James Willson to the NCA Board.

Welcoming Canberra businessman, Mr James Willson, as the Authority’s newest board member, Mr Weber spoke of Mr Willson’s passion for place making, strategic and digital communication and his commitment to Canberra as the national capital.

“In joining the Authority, Mr Willson brings over 18 years of business experience including a working knowledge of corporate governance and strategic thinking to underpin and create change and grow private and public sector services and offerings,” said Mr Weber.

“Mr Willson brings a wide breadth of experience from previous board positions complemented by his operational knowledge of business strategy, communications, financial reporting and analysis along with economic modelling, business structuring, and legal and constitutional frameworks.”

Previous board positions held by Mr Willson include Regional Development Australia ACT, Australian Foundation for Mental Health Research, Canberra Business Chamber, Canberra Hospital Foundation and Snowy Hydro Southcare. His current board roles are with CIT Solutions, Canberra Grammar School Foundation and the RSPCA ACT.

“As someone who has spent my whole life in Canberra, I am truly humbled and honoured to have been appointed to the Board of the National Capital Authority. What the NCA oversees is for every Australian, and I hope that the skills I possess across governance, communication, placemaking and brand make a significant contribution to the NCA.

I am looking forward to attending my first Authority meeting in October and to my term ahead. It’s a pleasure to be joining the National Capital Authority to be across essential projects that deliver outcomes in the national interest,” said Mr Willson.

“As an Authority member, Mr Willson’s vast experience complements other existing member skills and will help shape the NCA’s strategic direction and operations,” said Mr Weber.

Current Authority Members; Mr Terry Weber, Mr Dennis Richardson AC, Ms Jenny Smithson and Ms Sally Barnes. The NCA Board meets at least six times a year.
