The National Capital Authority (NCA) has prepared a Consultation Report for Works Approval application WA19729 from VR Design on behalf of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar for the construction of two storey dwelling at 6 Canterbury Crescent Deakin and associated demolition works.

The Report was prepared in accordance with the NCA's 'Commitment to Community Engagement (August 2011)' which details how the NCA conducts consultation. The full consultation report is below.

Purpose of Report

The purpose of the report is to provide a greater level of consistency and transparency in the NCA's decision making process. The Consultation Report outlines the submissions received and provides responses to the issues raised. Public consultation took place between 15 December 2014 and 21 January 2015.

Key Issues

Three written submissions were received. The key issues raised in submissions were:

  1. Asbestos management
  2. Tree removal and protection
  3. Consistency between National Capital Plan requirements and the Deakin precinct code of the Territory Plan
  4. Plot ratio and associated space for landscaping

Liaison with the relevant ACT Government directorates also took place during this period. 

On 12 March 2015, works approval was granted to WA19729 for the demolition of the existing building at 6 Canterbury Crescent and the construction of a new two storey dwelling.
