Marking Reconciliation Day at Reconciliation Place

Media Alert

24 May 2019

The National Capital Authority (NCA) will be marking Reconciliation Day with a free community event, which will include a traditional welcome, a smoking ceremony and an Indigenous dance performance.

Following this ceremony, a free one hour guided walking tour will be offered through Reconciliation Place, exploring the various artworks which reflect the story of Reconciliation.

Physically and symbolically located at the heart of Australian democratic and cultural life within Canberra’s Parliamentary Zone, Reconciliation Place recognises the importance of understanding the shared history of Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians. The artworks that make up Reconciliation Place are responses to different aspects of the story of this journey

This event is free and open for participants of any age. The event location is at the central mound on Reconciliation Place, located between the National Portrait Gallery and Questacon.

Tickets for this free event can be secured via Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/reconciliation-day-tickets-61281247862?aff=ebdshpsearchautocomplete
