The Captain Cook Memorial Jet will operate from 9am to 11am on Australia Day.
NCA Chief Executive, Gary Rake said the change was made to correspond with Australia Day celebrations in Commonwealth Park.
'The earlier start time means the Captain Cook Memorial Jet will form the backdrop of the Australia Day flag raising and citizenship ceremonies at Citizenship Place.
'It will also be enjoyed by the tens of thousands of people who visit Commonwealth Park each year to join in Australia Day events,' said Mr Rake.
The normal jet operating hours of 2.00pm to 4.00pm daily, will resume on Sunday.
The Captain Cook Memorial Jet was constructed to commemorate the bicentenary of Captain James Cook's discovery of the East Coast of Australia.
In still conditions the jet can propel water over a hundred metres into the air.
The Captain Cook Memorial Jet is best viewed from near the National Capital Exhibition in Commonwealth Park.
