APS to Give Boundless Charity

Media Release

22 August 2013

All past and present public service employees are urged to put on their walking shoes to help raise money for Boundless Canberra - Canberra's first all-abilities playground.

Walk and Play is part of the Australian Public Service (APS) Centenary of Canberra Initiative, a celebration of the public service, its people and their contribution to the development of Canberra.

The fundraising walk will be held on Friday, 30 August from 7am, starting in Kings Park, near the National Carillon.

The Walk and Play event is a fun way for public servants to contribute to a legacy of Canberra's Centenary celebrations.

The event will be an opportunity to come together, enjoy a stroll along the lake and give something back to the children of Canberra and the nation.  The playground will be enjoyed by children of all abilities well into the next century.

Canberra's Centenary year is a great opportunity to look at the contribution the APS and its people have made to the first 100 years of the capital.

Departmental Secretaries and Agency Heads will lead off public servants at 7.15am for the 5km bridge to bridge walk.

The charity walk will be followed by a light breakfast, with the event to wrap up in time for all employees to be able to arrive at work in time for a 9.00am start.

Registration closes Thursday, 29 August 2013. Click here for more information.

The APS Centenary of Canberra Initiative also features the In work and In play ñ building the Canberra community website, which invites the Canberra community and all APS staff, past and present, to post a picture and add their story to the history of the nation's capital.
