Valentine's Day Engagement

7 February 2013

A free concert will be held this Thursday night at the National Carillon to celebrate St Valentine's Day.

More than 150 couples are expected to enjoy this special concert in the beautiful surrounds of Aspen Island, Kings Park.

The concert has been an annual event held on 14 February since 2002. This year's recital will feature carillonist Lyn Fuller performing a range of romantic songs from 7pm to 8pm. The concert theme this year is 'A Valentine's Serenade'.

NCA Chief Executive, Gary Rake said the concert is a prominent event in Canberra's event calendar.

'Aspen Island is one our most popular venues for weddings on national land. 136 couples were married on the island last year,' Mr Rake said.

'Many people celebrate St Valentine's Day by returning to the site where they made their wedding vows.

'We also receive a number of wedding bookings each year for Aspen Island from people who became engaged at the Valentine's Day concert,' he said.

Everyone is invited to bring along a rug and some refreshments to enjoy this special concert at the National Carillon.

National Carillon recital programmes are available here.

The National Carillon recital programme is proudly supported by Colliers International.
