Army Modernisation Showcase - Blamey Square, Russell

On Monday 29 August 2016, Defence are holding the Army Modernisation Showcase at Blamey Square, Russell, from 9 am - 3 pm to raise awareness of current Army modernisation initiatives. Please note that there may be traffic congestion within the area.

29 August 2016, 6 am – 5 pm

  • The intersection of Kings Avenue and Blamey Square will be closed to traffic.
  • The pick up/drop off at this location will not be available during this time.

John Gorton Building Car Park Upgrade
Tue, 16 Aug 2016 - 8:00PM to Sat, 23 Dec 2017 - 6:00AM


The John Gorton Building (JGB) ‘service road’ bounded by the JGB, Parkes Place East and Dorothy Tangney Place will remain temporarily closed in part or in whole to enable next stage construction works associated with the JGB car park upgrade.

6 am, Wednesday 17 August – 5 pm, Friday 23 December 2017

• Eastbound and westbound lanes of the JGB service road
During the closure the following temporary arrangements will apply:
• The JGB main entry for the Department of the Environment and Energy has been temporarily relocated and can be accessed from Dorothy Tangney Place.
• Alternate parking arrangements will apply in Dorothy Tangney Place, Parkes Place East and adjacent car parks as signposted.
• Restricted cycling access will apply to the JGB basement.
• No vehicular or pedestrian access to the JGB basement (via car park ramps) or loading dock will be available unless signposted otherwise.
• Alternate waste removal and delivery arrangements will apply.
• The northern area of the original JGB public car park will remain closed to accommodate ongoing construction works.
• Traffic and pedestrians will be directed around the works area with temporary signage.
• The JGB main car park will partially reopen for public and permit parking as signposted.

The public will be advised of the next stage of associated road closures relating to the JGB car park upgrade.
