National Gallery of Australia Foreshore Upgrade
Construction Start Date
Temporary Road or Lake Closures
The National Capital Authority (NCA) is planning to undertake a public domain upgrade of the foreshore shared path that runs between the National Gallery of Australia (NGA) Sculpture Garden and Lake Burley Griffin. The proposed upgrade is in response to public safety concerns for low lighting levels and a pinch point in the path where the NGA Sculpture Garden walls restrict the path width from 4 meters down to 2.5 metres, creating a blind spot. The NCA is also working closely with the NGA to improve connectivity between the foreshore path and the Sculpture Garden. The works will include new paving, walls, lighting, seating, stairs and planting.
