Want Coffee at Boundless? Kiosk EOI now open

Media Release
19 October 2018

With the recent completion of stage two works to The Centenary of Canberra National Playground, Boundless Canberra, in partnership with the National Capital Authority (NCA), is preparing to finalise the remaining stage of works with the release of an Expression of Interest (EOI) seeking a semi-transportable kiosk and operator to cater for the growing audience at both the playground and visitors to Kings Park.

The EOI invites respondents to provide and operate a commercial food service in a semi-transportable kiosk at Part Block 6, Section 47 Parkes - Boundless Playground, Kings Park.

“The playground is a popular destination for locals and visitors to Canberra having been named in August 2018 as Canberra’s most popular playground, this added amenity will no doubt enhance the visitor experience and creates an exciting business opportunity,” said Sally Barnes, Chief Executive National Capital Authority.

Managed by the NCA the site will undergo minor construction works, including the installation of essential services and some additional public amenity including a deck platform and furniture. The site works will provide an area for the successful respondent to place a semi-transportable kiosk. The NCA understands the importance of this site and will place a strong emphasis on the design to ensure that it is in keeping with its environs.

“Having started this project as a Centenary of Canberra Project in 2012, Boundless is a wonderful all-inclusive playground that encourages play between all children regardless of abilities. This project wouldn’t have been possible without the generous support from the NCA, ACT Government, the Canberra community, Master Builders ACT and Renaissance Homes through the Charity House Project and Hands Across Canberra, it is great to see this EOI released and the final stage of the Boundless Canberra vision being realised”, said Ross Barrett, Chair of Boundless Board.

For further information or to apply to the EOI visit www.nca.gov.au or download from AusTender here. Responses to the EOI are due by 2 pm, Friday 23 November.
