Bigger, Brighter, and Bolder in 2026! 

The National Capital Authority is thrilled to announce the return of FLIGHT: Drone SkyShow + Night Markets, soaring back into Canberra on the Australia Day weekend 2026. 

This year, the show returns bigger and brighter than ever, with two different 15-minute drone shows each night at 9:00pm and 10:00pm. Look to the skies for breathtaking light displays, illumination effects, cutting edge drone choreography, immersive music, and storytelling that reflects, respects, and celebrates the evolving story of our nation.  

Internationally acclaimed event producers AGB Creative are once again bringing their visionary expertise to Canberra, delivering an experience that promises to captivate audiences of all ages. Thanks to the support of the National Australia Day Council, FLIGHT continues to push the boundaries of entertainment. 

FLIGHT is a celebration of community, culture, and connection. Whether you're a first-time viewer or returning for more, prepare to be amazed as we take FLIGHT to new heights. 

Join us in January 2026 for an unforgettable evening of light, music, and magic under the stars of Lake Burley Griffin.

Hub 1 | Commonwealth Place
Hub 2 | Kings Park

FLIGHT: Drone SkyShow will be visible from other locations around the centre of Lake Burley Griffin. Your location will alter your perspective of the Drone SkyShow, meaning elements in the Drone SkyShow may appear differently than if you were at Commonwealth Place. 

The Questacon Carpark at Hub 1 and the Wendouree Drive Carpark at Hub 2 will be open for patrons with accessible parking needs only. Vehicles must display a valid Australian disability parking permit. 

No, entry to the event is free and no bookings are required. You are welcome to register  to join our email list and stay up to date with all the latest event details.   

Soundtrack

Click on the link to hear the soundtrack that accompanies the drone skyshow. 

You may want to bring a picnic blanket or chairs to sit on. There will be delicious food offerings at both the hubs but feel free to bring any snacks or beverages you'd like to enjoy during the event.   

The soundtrack for the show will be played on both Hubs 1 & 2, but should you select another viewing location, you might like to bring personal small speaker or headphones to listen to the event soundtrack and special music.  (Link to soundtrack coming soon) 

FLIGHT: Drone SkyShow and Night Markets is an outdoor event with main viewing area in open space - please wear appropriate footwear and clothing.   

Yes, there will be night markets featuring food and drinks available at the event.    

Food vendors will also be at Wendouree Dr near the National Carillon in Kings Park. 

There will be plenty of additional entertainment throughout the day including live musical performances on Hub 1 and roving entertainment throughout the night on both Hubs 1 & 2.  
 
Keep your eyes and ears open to capture these unique performances.   

Yes, the event is suitable for all ages and is a great opportunity for families and friends to come together and enjoy the beautiful setting of Lake Burley Griffin.  

First aid tents will be located at Commonwealth Place and Kings Park.   

Yes, roving security will monitor crowds and alcohol consumption at both event hubs.  

Drone operators advise that FLIGHT: Drone SkyShow will be unable to proceed in rain, high winds, thunderstorms, and/or lightning. They can however look for windows of clear skies through the night to make the drones fly.   

The NCA will use social media and email to notify the community of any delays or cancellations.  

To guarantee that you receive event updates and notifications of this type, visitors should sign up for emails or follow the NCA and/or the National Triangle on social media.   

In the event of cancellation or delay, the NCA will work with the Drone SkyShow supplier to attempt (where possible) to reschedule the event.  

Due to the large crowds expected at FLIGHT: Drone SkyShow Trilogy & Night Markets, it is not advisable to bring a pet to this event.   

Service animals are excepted.
