The NCA Volunteer Program offers you the opportunity to meet new people through playing an active role in the education of locals and visitors.
Volunteers are provided with a range of training opportunities to assist them to successfully undertake their role as ambassadors for Canberra.
The NCA offers three Volunteer Programs that undertake activities across the National Triangle; Volunteer Guide, Horticulture Volunteer and Research Volunteer. We are currently seeking enthusiastic people who:

Do you want to learn more about the history, development and special importance of Canberra and share that knowledge with others?
Volunteer Guides play an integral part in the education of visitors re places of special importance and history of the National Capital and in promoting the city’s attributes.
The NCA provides direction and training to Volunteer Guides in preparation for volunteer activities. This includes the history and design of the National Capital and interpretation of NCA exhibition facilities and places of unique interest that are managed by the NCA.
The activities of a Volunteer Guide include:
Are you an avid rose lover, enjoy gardening and being outdoors?
Would you like to gain new skills in specialist garden care including; pruning, pest and disease awareness and deadheading?
Horticulture Volunteers are taught by our expert gardeners along the way, while becoming involved in the horticultural care and maintenance of the Old Parliament House Gardens. Five teams work in the gardens pruning, weeding, dead heading and working together to beautify the gardens for local, national and international visitors.
Do you have a background in research? Are you looking for a way to utilise your skills?
Research Volunteers receive on the job training and ongoing professional development while they work behind the scenes and support the functions of the NCA through volunteer assisted projects.
Research Volunteers work within small teams or independently on various tasks, allocated to them depending on their strengths, skills and experience. Some of our past projects and tasks have included:
