I’m a 46year old married woman who lives in an apartment opposite EPIC and I love the tram! I’m a contractor and my place of employment generally changes every 12 months or so, but over the last 4 years it’s either been Tuggeranong or the city. If it’s been the city, I’ve been able to walk the 15 min walk to the tram stop and avoid paying parking fees. I love how clean, quiet and easy the tram is and I love to see how it’s usually packed full.
Canberra is now too big to rely on just one mode of public transport (buses) and it’s high time we expanded to trams & buses. If we can continue to update our buses to energy efficient/electric versions, then even better.
My only problem is that the tram network isn’t being rolled out as fast as I’d like. When we finally manage to get it over the lake and servicing both north and south residents, it will be a game-changer. I’ve always been proud of my city and improving our public transport (let’s aim for world-class!) will only make me prouder.
