There should be physical barriers (e.g. raised curb or bollards) to separate cycleways from traffic lanes to protect cyclists from injury/death, particularly as cars are becoming larger and EV cars have more inertia due to their weight. Cycleways should also not be expected to deviate/yield from or turn into merging traffic lanes but remain parallel/adjacent to traffic lanes they are next to. Having to turn off, start and stop for every connecting road is burdensome on riders. It takes cars no physical exertion to start and stop, but considerable amounts for cyclists.
