Celebrate the richness, rhythm and vibrant spirit of Africa at the Africa in the Park Festival, returning to Stage 88 at Commonwealth Park on 28 March 2026. This much-loved community event brings together music, cuisine, culture and creativity in an openair setting where everyone is welcome.
The festival is designed as a joyful multicultural gathering where Africa’s diverse traditions meet the heart of Canberra. Throughout the day, the park comes alive with energetic performances ranging from drumming and Afrobeat to highlife, reggae and contemporary African music. These rhythms set the tone for a family friendly celebration filled with movement, dancing and shared excitement.
Visitors can explore colourful market stalls featuring African prints, handmade crafts, cultural displays and storytelling that highlight heritage and community pride. These elements provide an opportunity to connect with artisans and learn more about the rich artistic traditions that shape African identity.
Families will appreciate the dedicated activities for children, including games, face painting and safe play spaces that make the event enjoyable for all ages. Parents can relax while young festival goers immerse themselves in fun cultural experiences.
