National Capital Authority Statement for Reconciliation Day 2021

The National Capital Authority’s work is on the land of the Ngunnawal People, Ngunnawal Country. We pay our respects to their elders – past, present and emerging in our daily activities.

The National Capital Authority continue to work with Ngunnawal Elders and Traditional Owner Community Members on the care and direction of work on the estate. We continue and support Reconciliation Day in the ACT, and as per the past three years, hold a Welcome to Country at Reconciliation Place as part of National Reconciliation Week and would like to thank Aunty Violet for her words this morning.

We also hosted a guided tour at 9.00am on Mon 31 May 2021 (TODAY) to walk through Reconciliation Place, which is physically and symbolically located in the heart of The National Triangle, Canberra. The tour has been advertised on our social media and has had good interest. The artworks along Reconciliation Place highlight different elements of the reconciliation process and the importance of understanding the shared history belonging to all Australians.
