The National Capital Authority (NCA) has finalised the design phase of works relating to the upgrade of the Captain Cook Memorial Jet (the Jet). Phase two construction works have now commenced.
The National Capital Authority (NCA) will undertake vital restoration and upgrade works on the Captain Cook Memorial Jet (the Jet) to ensure it operates in a safe, compliant and improved state.
The National Capital Authority (NCA) with the assistance of the Gungahlin Rural Fire Brigade intends to undertake a small ecological/prescribed burn on conservation grasslands adjacent to Lady Denman Drive, south of the Governor General’s lookout.
The National Capital Authority will be conducting the following road closures for Floriade 2015:
Monday 17 August to Monday 26 October 2015
• Regatta Point car park, Barrine Drive, Parkes
• Regatta Place, Regatta Point, Parkes
The National Capital Authority has this week commenced replacing the existing timber stairs located between Russell car parks 48 and 59 with concrete stairs to be constructed on site. Both sets of stairs are expected to be completed by early September 2015.
The National Capital Authority will this morning coordinate a temporary lane closure for one eastbound lane on the corner of Parkes Way and Anzac Parade for emergency road repairs. The works, which commenced at 10 am, are expected to take a few hours to complete.
The Captain Cook Memorial Jet has unfortunately had another setback in its operations due to a secondary problem as a possible result of the unexpected failure of its pumping system earlier this year.
This Wednesday 20 May the National Capital Authority will reopen Blundells Cottage after major heritage restoration works. The Cottage has been closed for the last six months while it underwent a conservation programme in-line with the Blundells Cottage Heritage Management Plan.
The National Capital Authority intends to conduct a control burn of a small area of grassy woodland in Stirling Park scheduled for this this Saturday 16 May.
