The following formal submission have been made public
Submitter: Pedal Power ACTRaising of London Circuit
1. The drawing S211-ACM-WOP-CON-TM-0013 shows on the temporary road detours (at a number of locations) a cross section of:
Side fence 0.3 m - path 1.5 m - concrete barrier 0.7 m - cycle lane 1.5 m - traffic lanes 2 x 3.5 m
In the interests of safety for people riding bikes, we request that the crossection by modified to:
Side fence 0.3 - path 3.0 m (or more where possible) - concrete barrier 0.7 - traffic lanes 2 x 3.5 m
2. The intersection of London Circuit and Commonwealth Avenue (Drawing S211-ACM-WOP-CIV-AL-0133) should be designed, in the interests of the safety of people riding bikes through the very large intersection, along the lines of that shown in the ACT Standard Drawing 'Bicycle-only paths at signalised intersections one-way paired paths' (drawing number ACTSD-0561) as shown at https://activeinfrastructure.com.au/pdf/?p=docs/id-5qa5k7s6pyg2pgb9/ACTSD-0561-Rev1-201109.pdf.
3. The cycle rout along Commonwealth Avenue route is a 'principal cycle route, that the government has decided should always have a priority crossing over traffic lanes and is currently working to implement that policy throughout the network. Consequently, where to south bound cycle lane along Commonwealth Avenue crosses the on-ramp from Parkes Way (Drawing S211-ACM-WOP-CIV-AL-0133) there should be a raised crossing for the cycle lane to give people using the cycle lane priority over people driving motor vehicles on the on-ramp.
