The following formal submission have been made public
Submitter: Matt WattsRaising of London Circuit
This work is not actually necessary for light rail to cross the lake, yet the ACT Government has chosen this approach for a reason. The only reason this proposal is being put forward is due to the ACT Government's desire to develop the land in order to help pay for the light rail.
Mark my words: if this proposal is approved, the surrounding land will become a high density development.
The problem is that we are not being asked to comment on a high density proposal, despite that being the crux of what this is all about. The artist's renditions do not show buildings, yet that is what we'll get if the proposal is approved.
I implore the NCA to recognise the value of open space. Please, do not allow the ACT Government to dismantle decades of considered planning decisions and replace them with boring, grid-like roads surrounding insignificant high-rise boxes that hamper public access and privatise views of the lake and foreshore.
Quite aside from that, the proposal would absolutely ruin traffic flows. As a pedestrian, I don't see any benefit to me; in fact, traffic lights would hamper my access both as a pedestrian and a driver.

Temporary works on Vernon Circle
The project should not proceed, so this is a moot question.
Signalisation of traffic at the intersection of Parkes Way and Coranderrk Street
This will absolutely ruin traffic flow. I don't know anyone who reckons this is a good idea. The ACT Government has already ruined road access via Northbourne, and now the only other major Civic thoroughfare will be dismantled.
