The following formal submission have been made public
Submitter: Peter WoodrowRaising of London Circuit
This is going to cause terrible traffic problems. For people living in the Inner South there is no real alternative to Commonwealth Avenue if heading to Civic or points further North.
The only alternative is Kings Avenue and it will be totally congested with traffic trying to dodge Commonwealth Avenue.
There is no point saying the long term gain will be worth all the hassle. People live "in the now". There is not strong support for light rail for those living in the traffic catchment of Commonwealth Avenue. Not sure there is even strong support for those living further out in Woden. Those living in the Northern suburbs of Woden really only have Commonwealth or Kings Avenues as their north-south routes. The southern suburbs of Woden may be able to use the Tuggeranong Parkway but it seems that in peak hour it is already at capacity.
What is coming is enough to make you move out of Canberra. It is that serious.
