In 2004, the ACT Government requested the preparation of the draft Amendment to allow the construction of a settlement of 50 houses at Pierces Creek.
The Authority did not agree to an Amendment to allow an expansion of the Pierces Creek Settlement. However, the Authority agreed to the preparation of a Draft Amendment to the National Capital Plan to enable the existing residents of Pierces Creek to purchase their house following the 2003 bushfires.
This Draft Amendment was placed on hold following advice that previous residents could purchase their homes without the need for an amendment to the National Capital Plan
On 10 December 2009, the National Capital Authority agreed that a number of past proposed amendments be formally withdrawn. Draft Amendment 51 – Pierces Creek was formally withdrawn and where appropriate content will be incorporated into a future review of the National Capital Plan.
