Intersection of Constitution Avenue and Creswell Street - Infrastructure Upgrades

Works are currently underway. During the development of the median, the contractors found a stormwater issue, that is preventing sufficient drainage. 

To improve the storm water drainage and solve is issue, works in the area now include the weekend of 26 and 27 July.

The weekday and weekend closures will not impact any access to surrounding buildings or businesses.

The weekend closures will however impact bus services to the area. The NCA has been working with ACTION buses to confirm bus stop closure and bus detour requirements. 

The following information regarding the impacts will be posted on affected bus stops:

• Services impacted: R3, 56, 59 (both directions).
• Bus Stops to be CLOSED and alternatives:
  • 3008 Constitution Av opposite Anzac Park East CLOSED. 
    Alternative bus stop is 3007 Constitution Av opposite Anzac Park West.
  • 3009 Constitution Av after Creswell St CLOSED. 
    Alternative bus stop is 3075 Blamey Cr before Vasey Cr.
  • 3031 Constitution Av after Russell Dr CLOSED. 
    Alternative bus stop is 3074 Blamey Cr before Watt St.
  • 3032 Anzac Park West Constitution Av CLOSED. 
    Alternative bus stop is 3033 Constitution Av after Anzac Park West.

Advertisement and communication of all lane and road closures during the works will be posted in the next update. 

Project Summary

This infrastructure upgrade is the continuation of the existing median along Constitution Avenue and will include landscaping. 

The works are due to commence in July 2025 and be complete by September 2025. 

During the project there will be some periods of weekend works to reduce traffic impacts. 

Every effort will be made to minimise disruptions during this period; however, some impacts are unavoidable. Impacts during the works period will include temporary road closures and bus detours, however all nearby driveways will remain accessible during the works. 

Project Background

Recent inspections and community feedback had identified a traffic hazard in the form of unsafe traffic maneuvers . 

The works incorporates the continuation of the bluestone centre median and current architectural landscape and will lower the risk of the unsafe traffic maneuvers.
